Negotiating Meaning Relationships in the Rhetorical Structure of EFL Argumentative Writing through Text Cohesion

چکیده
Being a configuration of logically interconnected statements realized in moves and stages, an argumentative essay is built around the notion textual unity achieved through lexico-grammar semantic associations. The study attempted to analyze role cohesion rhetorical structure undergraduate EFL students. Hence, 13 three-stage argument were analyzed on preset framework analysis. Discourse analysis as research method was used ascertain how functioned these essays. results revealed presence cohesive associations between different which corresponded with move length. Referential Lexical had more frequent dense than co-referential element sample texts; however, relatively low incidence conjunctives pointed towards relative scarcity functions students' writing. proposes initiative that could use frameworks other present or compare two sub-genres for structure.
